MUSICAL TOUR
 
 

Central Europe has always been the cradle of Music, and especially Transylvania.

 Region at the limit of European empires, closer to Constantinople than Paris, at the frontiers of Russia and Balkans, many musical trends in history met there, before continuing and imposing their influence in the Occident.

We still discover today, old manuscripts hidden in remote monasteries revealing treasures of religious or baroque music still unexploited.

Also discovery of this little known region, from villages to small towns as did in their time, Bartok, Kodaly, Enescu and keep on doing it today many musicologists or simple amateurs of music wishing to discover the Art at its source.

In this tour, we offer chamber music as well as Philarmonic concert , but also Gypsy music , folklore and religious music in their proper environment.
We also offer extension trips of the Enescu festival.

Day 1
Arrive in Bucharest, sightseeing tour of the Romanian capital city, c/in hotel 3* de charme and for dinner, we go in the greenbelt of the city at the Pescarus restaurant with a first contact with Romanian folklore and dances.

Day 2 
Visit of the Enescu museum in Bucharest ,lunch,  then we head North to the foothills of Southern Carpathians to Sinaia, where Enescu had his summer villa and where Yehudi Menuhin stayed some time to take lessons from the Master. Then we continue to Brasov , Transylvanian city founded by the Saxon knights . We can, according to the day, attend an organ concert in the Black Church . Accommodation in old town in a 3* hotel de charme, dinner in restaurant.

Day 3
We drive this morning having on our left the Fagaras mountain range, or also called the Alps of Transylvania, to reach for lunch Sibiu, one of the prettiest cities of Romania, that has been European Capital of Culture in 2007. Lunch in a traditional restaurant , free time to walk around old town , c/in hotel 4* and in the evening concert of Medieval music by a local band.

Day 4
We drive through the Saxon Transylvania , with villages of pastel colours and fortified churches, real citadels of Faith, like the impressive church of Biertan, Unesco monument. We arrive for lunch in Sighisoara, medieval citadel of the 12th century very well preserved where was born Vlad the Impaler or..Dracula! We end our day in Tirgu-Mures, c/in hotel 3*. We have tonight the opportunity to meet young Gypsies who will take us for an exhilarating evening of  real Gypsy violin music and dances.

Day 5
We stay today in Tirgu-Mures, and visit today the Palace of Culture, of Secession style, the austrian Art-Nouveau where Bela Bartok gave some of his very first concerts. We’ll pay a visit, in the nearby town of Reghin to a craftsman creating violins, having studied in Cremone Italy, and working for the export. Today , if this tour is a Thursday or Friday , we assist to the concert of the Philarmonic Orchestra of Tirgu-Mures, directed by the Japanese  Shinia Ozaki in this same Palace of Culture.

Day 6
We go today towards a different region, driving through Eastern Carpathians and the impressive Bicaz canyon and Red Lake and arrive in Bucovina, area of monasteries with painted frescoes. Accommodation hotel 4* and tonight: Male choir in an Orthodox church in a village.

Day 7
It is time to go back South by the flat roads in the East of the country and we take time to discover the Szekely folklore of the proud Hungarians of Transylvania, in a village. Dinner and accommodation hotel 3*.

Day 8
Arriving in Bucharest. 2 options: transfer airport according to flight time of spending an ultimate night with concert – according to dates and calendar.
