Day 1
Arrive in Budapest, Hungary. C/in in a cosy hotel and dinner with Hungarian wines tasting in “Borkatakomba”, the catacombs of wine!
Day 2
Sightseeing tour of this beautiful capitale city in Central Europe, and after lunch , we head towards EGER, at the foothills of the Matra hills , where is producted the famous red wine “Bull’s blood”! Dinner and wine tasting in a specialized restaurant, and night in a 3* hotel in the old town.
Day 3
We continue our discovery driving through the Puszta, or the great Plain with thousand faces, and making a pause in the charming village of TOKAJ, well know for its golden coloured wine, that the king Louis XIV fom France called “the king of wines , and wine of kings”. Lunch in a local restaurant . In the afternoon , we reach the fronteer between Hungary and Romania and enter in ORADEA. C/in in a 3* hotel in the old town and dinner restaurant.
Day 4
We are driving this morning through the wild Western Carpathian mountains , and few kilometers beyond Cluj-Napoca, we arrive in a village where locals heritated the know-how of the former inhabitants Saxons in making white wines. We have lunch in a manor house and taste the local Rieslings and sylvaner. Continuing through the Saxon villages with fortified churches and arrive in SIGHISOARA, Medieval citadel Unesco heritage, c/in in a hotel inside the citadel and dinner in the birthplace of…Dracula!
Day 5
We drive south towards Southern Carpathians, and, after the city of Brasov, we drive along the Prahova valley to Sinaia, that was the favorite place for the Romanian aristocracy at the beginning of 20th century. The royal family, issued from a Hohenzollern branch erected there the very Baroque and beautiful Peles castle. Lunch in Azuga in the former Royal cellars, belonging now to a British company. We end our day at only 60 km from Bucharest in the winery of a Corsican French. Visit, wine tasting and accommodation in a near-by mansion.
Day 6
Back North today on the flat road of the Moldavian plain to cross another fronteer, and arrive in the third country of our journey, the Moldavian Republic that was a former republic of ex URSS.Arriving in the city of Chisinau and accommodation in a central 4* hotel that will be our base for these two next days. Dinner in town.
Day 7
Full day to discover some of the most impressive cellars of the world, like the Cricova one, to taste wines little known in Occident. Moldova is the first wine exportator for Russia, and for the anecdote, the Russian army , during WWII , moved here the private bottle collection of Goering! We visit these cellars where each row has a street name as Cabernet street, Sauvignon street etc…! Return to Chisinau.
Day 8
Transfer to airport.
